Vacancy Announcement: National Consultant for Peace and Disarmament Education

UNRCPD is seeking applications from qualified Nepali nationals for the following position:

Consultant for Peace and Disarmament Education Project– In 2013 UNRCPD launched a Peace and Disarmament Education (PDE) pilot project in Nepal helping the Nepal Ministry of Education’s Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) with integrating content and materials into national grade 8 textbooks and grade 9-10 curricula. In close collaboration with UNESCO, the continuation of the project aims at supporting the Ministry of Education in integrating PDE content into grade 9 textbooks and grade 8 PDE teachers’ guides, reviewing and identifying PDE gaps in teacher development programmes and drafting a stand-alone grade 6-8 subject.

The consultant’s main task is to support the Nepal Ministry of Education’s Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) and National Centre for Educational Development (NCED) with developing high quality teaching and learning tools (teachers’ guides, student workbooks) for use in Nepali classrooms. The consultant will draw on and adapt existing materials to the extent possible, and create new materials as needed, sensitive to Nepal’s context and in line with international educational norms, with support from international peace education experts.

Location –Kathmandu, Nepal

Contract Duration – 6 months (extendable)
