Thailand signs the Arms Trade Treaty

Thailand has signed the Arms Trade Treaty to control the trade of arms as well as prevent and abolish illegal arms trade, becoming the 123rd member of the treaty. The Thai Ambassador to the United Nations in New York City, Norachit Sinhaseni, has signed the Arms Trade Treaty at the United Nations headquarter in New York City today. This makes Thailand the 123rd country to have signed this treaty. The Arms Trade Treaty was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 2 April 2013. It will be enforced on 24 December 2014. The signing of Thailand in this treaty is an exhibition of the country’s political standpoint. (NNT)
