Prime Minister of Nepal emphasized the importance of regional processes at the UN General Assembly

21 September 2023 NEW YORK – Addressing the UN General Assembly on Thursday, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister of Nepal emphasized the importance of collective action in tackling global challenges through peaceful means and diplomatic dialogue.

He highlighted Nepal’s concern on the constant stockpiling of nuclear arsenals, growing arms-race and ever-increasing military expenditures and emphasized that the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction continues to threaten peace and security in the world.

The Prime Minister reiterated Nepal’s call for the total and time-bound disarmament of all weapons of mass destruction including biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons.

He further emphasized the importance of regional processes, as the host country of the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific, in reinforcing the global disarmament regime.
